YES, kids do matter. This blog is about our children of today– our little people who are facing big problems. Children world over have braved the pandemic and are now struggling to saunter back to normalcy while adults rush back to living like nothing happened. What the world has forgotten are the two precious years that these children have lost. What may have been the most important developmental milestone years for them has left a lot of blank spaces.
With Our Kids Matter I hope to reach out to as many parents, educationists and anyone who wants to understand our children.
The Pandemic has put us all through enough and now we are all trying to resurrect ourselves and go back to living. Unfortunately it’s not so for our children. And when I say children, I specifically mean school-going children, who are struggling to ease back into the new normal when they have never understood what a normal has been.
In my blog I want to write about the challenges our children are facing. And make us all conscious about how we need to slow down and that the children are not ready to be yanked back to daily living. Not yet.
Sending them out, sending them to physical schools, parks etc is only a tiny step forward. What they really need is our empathy and a little bit of our understanding. Schools and educators, counselors all need to step back and recondition the ways of dealing with children. Mental issues, anxiety, depression among kids are now rampant turning it into the new epidemic.
Our Kids Matter is not intended to be for professional advice, diagnosis or therapy. You have specialists for that. I am here only to talk.
